The Little White Church
As a young bride I attended church in one of the older churches that we often see on postcards of days gone by. The one room wooden building with the wooden benches, large windows always open in the summer (no air conditioning, we used cardboard fans) and a small stage for the church choir and baptistery, although , I was baptized in the local creek. The churches would hold around 100 people on a Sunday morning. There would be cleaning of the cemetery in May and flowers would be brought to the cemetery in remembrance of those gone on. Occasionally there would be dinner on the grounds (not literally on the ground) and families would reunite. We knew everyone and their extended families. Vacation Bible school was in the summer, morning and evening services on Sunday and Wednesday evening, as well as, weddings and funerals. Songs were sung with beautiful words and families came. These churches are being torn down and replaced now with large sophisticated buildings, elaborate activities and different kinds of services. In the community where I now live, there is still one of these churches of days gone by. The Little White Church still serving the residents of the local community. 8x10 unframed https://www.pathutchensart.com/
